IPE Prospects


I have got admission in Dehradun Institute of Technology in Industrial Production Engineering (IPE). I wanted to do a BTech in computer science but had no option other than to opt for IPE. Though there is a provision of altering the branch after first year if one secures good percentage and I am working hard at it, but if I fail to do so, are there any job opportunities in IPE? Where are IP engineers required?

Production engineering is an offshoot of mechanical engineering that involves designing and operating equipment, systems and processes involved in the production of goods to achieve optimal productivity. Specialisations in this field include applied thermodynamics,machine design,fluid mechanics, machine tool design and industrial engineering. Employment opportunities exist in almost all industries engaged in the production of goods. Most industries that employ mechanical engineers also take in production engineers.
   The fundamental acceptance of India as a product-engineering hub is proof of our capability of doing high-end engineering. From IT to Automobile design, MNCs are increasingly upping the quantum of product engineering work to India.
